SeaChange Candied Smoked Salmon Appetizer Platter

A guest post by Canadian food blogger Korena Vine.

Regardless of where you live in Canada, chances are you engage in some kind of outdoor winter activity. Skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, ice skating, or perhaps a waterlogged hike or some frigid ocean surfing for the West Coasters, all require you to warm up and re-fuel afterwards. No better place to do this than in front of a cozy fire with a beer (my favourite post-activity beverage) and a shared plate of savoury nibbles.

When I’m putting together such a plate of savoury nibbles (aka an appetizer platter), I usually include cheese, crackers, olives, and cured meat/charcuterie. But for a version with a little bit of Canadian flair, I substituted SeaChange Candied Smoked Salmon for the cured meat. Being more heavily seasoned and smoked than other SeaChange smoked salmon products, the candied salmon is actually reminiscent of charcuterie. It also pairs extremely well with flavourful cheese (I used Gruyère), salty olives, and some crunchy crackers or grissini to round out the platter.
